operationalising data protection and privacy

For our June webinar, NIGF are pleased to welcome Gillian Cossey who will be focusing on what “operationalising” data protection looks like in practice, exploring how organisations can move beyond policies and theory, and embed privacy into day-to-day business activity so that it becomes part of how work gets done and not as an afterthought. This includes making training meaningful and ensuring Data Protection Impact Assessments are part of normal project and change processes. The session will be delivered as an open Q and A, giving attendees plenty of opportunity to raise real challenges and share approaches that have worked in their organisations.
Gillian is a Consulting Director specialising in data protection and privacy, an award winner with over 20 years of in-house experience working across complex global corporates who now advises organisations on how to take a practical and proportionate approach to privacy, helping them meet their legal obligations while supporting business objectives. Gillian is known for her straight talking and pragmatic style. She focuses on making data protection work in practice by embedding it into everyday processes, rather than treating it as a separate compliance exercise. Her approach always starts with the “human”. She works closely with organisations to design simple, usable frameworks that enable teams to do the right thing with personal data, strengthening both compliance and customer trust.
