Events

The NIGF holds at least three events per year across different locations in the North of England and Scotland. These events are open to anyone working in Data Protection and IT Security and provide a forum for networking and learning more about how other organisations are implementing improvements in this area.

Events usually last half a day and are themed around a specific topic area. In addition, online webinars and networking opportunities will also take place between face to face events.

The Northern Information Governance Forum is pleased to welcome Peter Loomes from the IASME Consortium who will be giving members the chance to find out more about the IASME Governance standard and CyberEssentials certification and how these can support improved governance and accountability within organisations and potential benefits and challenges of implementation. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about these standards and also discuss how these might work in their own organisation and share their experiences of implementing these or other standards in the past.

NIGF is pleased to welcome David Stone, Managing Director of Kaleidoscope Data Privacy Consultants, an organisation that specialises in supporting data protection and data sharing practices internationally, to explore the topical issue of Brexit and the potential impact on your organisations data protection practices.

The webinar will focus on the impact of the Schrems II decision on Brexit and what this means moving forward for data importers and data exporters from the UK. It will cover how controllers and processors will need to modify their risk assessments, legal bases for processing and privacy notices, as well as how the legal gateways for inbound and outbound flows from EEA and UK might be used in the future and will be helpful for any organisation who may be storing or sharing data within Europe and more widely.
